Aditya Mehta Resigns From Tour

India’s top player Aditya Mehta has resigned from the World Snooker Tour, but does intend to return next season.

Mehta has suffered from a neck injury in recent months and has decided to take time away from the sport in order to rest the injury and regain fitness.

The 30-year-old from Mumbai is currently in line for a fresh two-year tour card as one of the eight leading players on the European Tour Order of Merit who finish the season outside the top 64 of the main world ranking list. Mehta is currently fifth on that list of eight players and he has stated his intention to return next season assuming he receives a tour card.

Mehta reached the final of the inaugural Indian Open world ranking event in New Delhi in 2013, beating the likes of Mark Williams and Stephen Maguire before being denied the title by Ding Junhui. His other career highlights include winning a gold medal at the World Games in Colombia in 2013 and becoming the first Indian to make an official 147 at the 2014 Paul Hunter Classic.
