Awards Night Raises Cash For Bluebell Wood
World Snooker’s annual awards night last Thursday raised £24,460 for our official charity Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.
As well as the presentation of awards to snooker’s star performers of the 2015/16 season, the night at the Dorchester Hotel in London also included an auction with some incredible sporting memorabilia and experiences on offer.
Among the items were VIP tickets to top snooker events including Betfred World Championship, ringside seats for Anthony Joshua’s fight in London next month, signed photos of snooker legend Steve Davis and golfer Danny Willett, and even Alan McManus’s tartan outfit which he wore at the Crucible this year. McManus also won £250 from Betfred for being the best dressed player of the tournament, which he donated to Bluebell Wood.
There were some fantastic bids on the night at the auction, hosted by World Snooker Chairman Barry Hearn, and alongside a raffle, the total raised came close to £25,000.
Please note that the makers of all successful bids, whether online or on the night, have been contacted.
Julie Hampson of Bluebell Wood said: “We’re absolutely delighted to see such a vast amount of money raised for our charity, on top of the £25,000 we had already received from Betfred for century breaks made during the World Championship.
“The awards evening was a wonderful occasion and we’d like to thank everyone who was so generous in bidding for the auction items and donating to Bluebell Wood.”
