Betfred To Make Jessie May Donation

The Betfred World Championship gets underway at the Crucible today and throughout the 17 days of the tournament, title sponsor Betfred will be donating £200 for every century break to Jessie May Children’s Hospice at Home.

If the century tally reaches 80, the donation will be rounded up to a massive £25,000. Last year a new record was set with 100 centuries racked up during snooker’s blue riband event at the Crucible.

Judd Trump starts the defence of his title today while other tops stars gracing the green baize in Sheffield over the coming days will include the likes of Ronnie O’Sullivan, John Higgins, Neil Robertson, Mark Selby and Shaun Murphy.

Boss of Betfred Fred Done said: “I am so delighted that this tournament is going ahead and we have the chance to see the very best players in the world competing in the biggest tournament. And it means we can help raise awareness of this incredible charity Jessie May at a time when they need help more than ever. The players will rise to the occasion and I’m sure we will see the century breaks flying in.”

Chris Roys, (CEO) of Jessie May, added:  “We are delighted that Betfred are continuing to support Jessie May. This £200 per century donation is really appreciated especially during these difficult times. The Jessie May nurses are continuing to visit terminally ill children in their homes and every penny we receive will support the hospice at home services.”

Jessie May Children’s Hospice at Home, based in Bristol, is WST’s official charity partner. They provides a hospice at home service for terminally ill children, offering care to families in the South West area. For more information about Jessie May visit www.jessiemay.org.uk
