The exciting qualifying rounds for snooker’s biggest tournament, the Betfred World Championship, are coming up in just two weeks’ time at Pond’s Forge International Centre in Sheffield.
After next week’s China Open the seeding cut off will be made, with the top 16 to automatically go through to the final stages at the famous Crucible Theatre. All other players will have to win three qualifying matches at Ponds Forge to earn a place at the Crucible.
The draw and format for the qualifying rounds will be released shortly after the end of the China Open, which finishes on April 3.
Among those competing could be crowd favourite Jimmy White, former champions Ken Doherty and Peter Ebdon, up-and-coming talents such as Leeds cueman Oliver Lines and Belgium’s Luca Brecel, and current Ladies World Champion Ng On Yee.
Following completion of the qualifying rounds, the 16 qualifiers will be drawn at random to play the top 16 seeds. The draw will take place on the morning of Thursday April 14th.
