Ronnie O’Sullivan suffered a second round defeat against Tom Ford as the Betway Shoot-Out field was reduced to 16 players on Thursday night in Blackpool.

Crowd favourite O’Sullivan, competing in the tournament for the first time since 2011, beat Dave Harold in his opening match but then failed to score a point against Ford as the Leicester man won the frame 55-0 with a top break of 39.

Mark Williams remained on course for a Blackpool double, having won the World Seniors title on Tuesday, by beating Peter Ebdon. Michael White is also through to round three after knocking out Judd Trump.

Martin Gould, Shoot-Out king two years ago, made a brilliant 116 to beat Rory McLeod while Barry Hawkins, the 2012 winner, beat Anthony McGill thanks to a run of 64.

Shaun Murphy made a 56 to beat Anthony Hamilton while Kyren Wilson’s 71 saw him beat Jimmy White. The line up for the last 16, which starts today at 2pm, is:

Kyren Wilson v Barry Hawkins

Alfie Burden v Sam Baird
Joe Perry v Ben Woollaston
Tom Ford v Michael White
