Burden Knocks Doherty Out Of Seniors

Alfie Burden scored a 3-0 victory over former Crucible king Ken Doherty in the opening round of the LLP Solicitors World Seniors Snooker Championship.

The tournament, which features all-time greats such as Stephen Hendry, Jimmy White and Joe Johnson, runs until Sunday. Follow live scores and results here or for details of how to watch it live click here.

Burden scored a top break of 60 as he comfortably beat Doherty, who will have to wait another year for a chance to add the seniors crown to the world junior, amateur and professional titles he landed earlier in his career.

Crowd favourite Tony Drago raced to a 3-0 success against Vito Puopolo with a top run of 73 and an average shot time of just 13 seconds. Malta’s Drago will now look ahead to a quarter-final against Mark Davis, who beat Tony Knowles 3-0 on Wednesday. Gerard Greene is also through to the last eight, having beaten last year’s champion Lee Walker 3-1.
