Carter Moves Up All-Time Ranking List
With victory at the World Open, Ali Carter has moved to 18th in the all-time ranking event titles list. The win in Yushan sees Carter surpass iconic names such as Paul Hunter and James Wattana.
The Captain is now just one behind the likes of Ray Reardon, Judd Trump and Stephen Maguire on four titles. Seven-time World Champion Stephen Hendry leads the way, having won an incredible 36 ranking titles.
It was an emotional win for the 37-year-old Carter, his first since returning to the World Snooker Tour after recovering from cancer for the second time. It also moved him into the top 16 of the world rankings.
Carter said, “I have been focused all week and to come out the winner is very special. It has been a great week for me.”
“I have been through a lot over the last couple of years so to get back into the top 16 is a huge achievement.”
