Coral Donates £5,100 To Jessie May

Coral will be donating £5,100 to WST’s official charity Jessie May Children’s Hospice at Home after 51 centuries were made in the first two events of the 2020 Coral Snooker Series.

Judd Trump won the Coral Players Championship in Southport

At the beginning of the series, Coral pledged to donate £100 for every century break made across the three events. There were 33 tons at the Coral World Grand Prix and a further 18 at the Coral Players Championship, bringing the total to 51.

Last week’s Coral Tour Championship has been postponed until July.

However, Coral has decided to hand a cheque for £5,100 to Jessie May now and then make a further donation after the Coral Tour Championship.

“With the Coral Tour Championship postponed until further notice, we would like to make the donation of £5,100 to Jessie May right now. The players have done an excellent job of racking up 51 centuries during the Coral Snooker Series so far,” said Coral’s John Hill.

“We will continue with our £100 donation per century when the Coral Tour Championship is rescheduled where hopefully the top eight players in the series are able to produce a flurry of tons in Llandudno,” added Hill.

A spokesman for WST added: “This a fantastic gesture from Coral especially in these difficult times. The money will make a huge difference to the Jessie May team as they face enormous challenges.”

Steve Wiltshire, Jessie May Care Team Leader, added: “This £5,100 donation from Coral has already managed to bring huge smiles to the faces of our children during the incredibly tough and troubling times that we are facing. This money will help to keep me and my fellow Jessie May Nurses out on the roads, and into the hearts of our families homes, so that we can relieve the further isolation that they are all feeling right now.

“Thank you to everyone at Coral for your incredible support once again, and to all of the players for your unbelievable form this season that has ensured this fantastic donation. We hope to be able to see you all again soon at Llandudno!”

Jessie May has been WST’s charity partner since 2016. For more information visit www.jessiemay.org.uk
