CZIS Supports International Women’s Day

schoolThe WPBSA’s Cue Zone Into Schools together with Sheffield schools supported International Women’s Day on Tuesday this week.

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call for accelerating gender parity.

WPBSA Vice Chairman Nigel Mawer, Sport Development Manager Chris Hornby and Head of Coaching and creator of the CZIS project Chris Lovell visited the Sheffield Inclusion Centre, Mundella Primary School and Sheffield Springs Academy to see all three schools, together with Heritage Park, take part in 60 second challenge competition.

schoolThis showcased female participation in the sport with everyone receiving a medal and each school event winner receiving a trophy. Each school also received gifts donated by World Snooker and WPBSA.

Nigel Mawer, Vice Chairman of the WPBSA said: “It was really good to see first-hand the enthusiasm of the players taking part and the teacher coaches who are instrumental in making Cue Zone Into Schools such a success in Sheffield. I hope that the Sheffield scheme will become a blueprint that can be replicated across the country to engage all in our fantastic sport.”
