Dafabet to Sponsor Northern Ireland Open

Ronnie O’Sullivan is the only man left in the running for snooker’s £1 million bonus after his victory at the Dafabet English Open

World Snooker is delighted to announce Dafabet as the new sponsor of the Northern Ireland Open.

The world’s finest players will descend upon the Belfast Waterfront next week for the Dafabet Northern Ireland Open, with a 128 man field chasing the £70,000 top prize.

It’s the second event of this season’s Home Nations series. Last month Ronnie O’Sullivan lifted the Dafabet English Open title, following a stunning 9-2 demolition of Kyren Wilson in the final.

The Rocket will be hoping to continue his quest to land an unprecedented £1 million bonus, which comes with winning all four Home Nations events in a single campaign.

However, O’Sullivan will face stern competition in Belfast from the likes of recent Champion of Champions Shaun Murphy, Judd Trump, Neil Robertson, John Higgins and defending champion Mark King, who became the first name on the Alex Higgins trophy last year.

The Home Nations series will then take to Glasgow for the Scottish Open in December, before reaching it’s climax in February at the Welsh Open in Cardiff

World Snooker Chairman Barry Hearn said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Dafabet have come on board for yet another star-studded event. They have shown tremendous backing to our sport having already sponsored the English Open this season, as well as the upcoming Masters.

“The attention generated by what is a brilliant field, along with Ronnie O’Sullivan’s attempt to move another step towards the £1 million bonus will be sure to bring Dafabet’s brand great exposure. There will be millions of fans tuning in throughout the week, with the event televised by Eurosport and Quest.

“Last year’s tournament provided great drama and it was brilliant to see the emotional scenes when Mark King finally clinched his first ranking title after 26 seasons on the tour. I expect to see equally compelling action next week and anticipate packed out crowds in Belfast.”

Tickets are still available for the Dafabet Northern Ireland Open. However, they are selling fast so make sure you act quickly to secure your place at the Belfast Waterfront to witness world’s best in action.
