Ding Misses Green When Set For 147

Ding Junhui missed the green when just five pots away from making the 147th maximum break in snooker history.

In the seventh frame of his semi-final with Ronnie O’Sullivan at the Dafabet Masters, Ding potted 15 reds with blacks as well as the yellow but then under-cut a difficult green to a centre pocket. He had earlier converted a brilliant thin cut on the black off the 15th red, then fluked the yellow into a centre pocket after missing it to the baulk corner.

China’s Ding is one of only three players to make a 147 at the Masters, having done so in 2007. The other two are Kirk Stevens and Marco Fu.

O’Sullivan earlier led 4-0 but the break of 122 helped Ding pull back to 4-3.
