Ding Reaches Six Red Semis
Ding Junhui overcame Thailand’s three-time ranking event winner James Wattana 6-2 to clinch his place in the semi-finals of the SangSom Six Red World Championship in Bangkok.
China’s top star Ding was Six Red World Champion in 2016 and he is now just two matches away from lifting the trophy once again. After losing the opening frame, Ding went on to take five of the next six to progress. He top scored with a run of 61.
Luca Brecel will face Ding in the last four after he defeated Tom Ford 6-3 in their quarter-final clash. The Belgian Bullet, who claimed his maiden ranking title at last season’s China Championship, won four frames on the bounce from 3-2 down to burst over the line.
Kyren Wilson sealed his place in the semi-finals with a 6-4 win over 2015 World Champion Stuart Bingham. The Warrior continues his impressive recent form, after he won his second ranking crown at last week’s Paul Hunter Classic.
Wilson’s opponent in the semis will be local favourite Sunny Akani. The Thai was pushed to a final frame decider against the UAE’s Mohamed Shehab. However, he comprehensively won the frame 38-0 to progress.
