Ken Doherty made a strong start to his 2015/16 season with a 5-1 win over Sanderson Lam to reach the penultimate qualifying round of the Australian Goldfields Open.
Former World Champion Doherty made top breaks of 66 and 108 in a comfortable win as he set up a match with Kyren Wilson.
Mitchell Mann came through an epic five hour, 22 minute battle against David Grace, winning 5-4 at 1am on Thursday morning. Grace won an 86-minute third frame on a respotted black, but it was Mann who eventually won the decider by potting the last blue and pink.
