Three defeats in four group matches so far for Higgins
John Higgins lost two matches on the second day of the SangSom Six Red World Championship in Thailand to leave his hopes of qualifying for the knockout phase in doubt.

Higgins made a strong start to the current season by winning the Australian Goldfields Open in July, but has struggled for form so far in Bangkok. On Tuesday he lost 5-3 to Pakistan’s Muhammad Sajjad and 5-3 to fellow Scot Anthony McGill. Higgins, who has won just one of his first four matches, faces Matthew Selt in his last group game on Wednesday, with the top four in each group of six to progress to the last 32.

Mark Williams scored two wins on Wednesday
Defending champion Stephen Maguire beat Alan Trigg 5-3 while World Champion Stuart Bingham beat Yan Bingtao 5-3 before losing by the same scoreline to Noppon Saengkham.
Mark Williams edged out Thepchaiya Un-Nooh 5-4 and Peter Francisco 5-3 while Ding Junhui beat Ben Judge 5-0 before suffering a surprise 5-3 defeat against Iran’s Ehsan Hydari Nezhad.
