Stephen Hendry will make his return to the World Snooker Tour at the BetVictor Gibraltar Open next month, after nine years away from the pro circuit.
Seven-time World Champion Hendry confirmed on Twitter on Tuesday evening that he has entered the world ranking event.
The tournament will run from March 1 to 7 in England and the draw and format will be released next week. There will be 128 players in the field and all matches will be best of seven frames.
Hendry has an invitational tour card to compete on the circuit for at least two seasons. His last professional event was the 2012 World Championship, where he reached the quarter-finals then announced his retirement after losing to Stephen Maguire.
Scotland’s 52-year-old Hendry has won 36 ranking titles including a record seven Crucible crowns. His most recent ranking title came at the 2005 Malta Cup.
Details of how to watch the BetVictor Gibraltar Open live on Eurosport and other broadcasters will be released shortly.
