I Thought It Would Go Down To The Wire – Trump

BetVictor European Series winner Judd Trump is relieved to have secured the bumper £150,000 bonus and be able to focus on the event at hand at the BetVictor Gibraltar Open.

The Ace in the Pack defeated Robert Milkins this afternoon and faces Alexander Ursenbacher in the last 16 tonight.

World number one Trump was guaranteed to win the series standings after three-time World Champion Mark Selby was knocked out by Chris Wakelin last night. The bonus is paid out to the player who accumulates the most prize money across the eligible events. Trump wins the series for the second consecutive year, having topped the standings last season.

Trump said: “It’s an added bonus to have got that out of the way. I can just concentrate on the event now. I thought it would go down to the wire with Mark. For me, that is pushed to one side now. I’m very happy to retain it. To do it once is hard, but to back it up the next year is very difficult. I’m proud of retaining the title, but I’ve come here to win the event.”
