Ones To Watch – Bulcsú Révész

Hungary’s 13-year-old Bulcsú Révész is one of continental Europe’s most dazzling talents and he has already started amassing silverware by becoming his country’s youngest ever national champion.

Révész claimed the title at the Hungarian Championship back in December at just 12 years of age. He came out on top in a field of 56 players in the event staged in the capital city of Budapest.

Révész faced defending and seven-time champion Zsolt Fenyvesi in the final. Fenyvesi had not dropped a single frame in reaching the title match. However, it was Révész who triumphed in a deciding frame to win 7-6. He compiled breaks of 59, 56, 54 and 51 throughout the clash.

This title came after Révész had already highlighted his considerable potential by reaching the quarter-finals of the 2019 European Amateur Open, where his run was eventually ended by former professional and eventual winner Kristjan Helgason.

Révész progressed through the group stages of the WSF Junior Open in Malta earlier this year to reach the last 32, where he lost out to Serbia’s Jovan Todorovic. He also went on an impressive run to the quarter-finals of the European Under-18 Championship.
