Perry and Lisowski Stay In Players Championship Race
Joe Perry and Jack Lisowski both kept alive their hopes of qualifying for the Players Championship by reaching the last 16 of the ManBetX Gibraltar Open.
For either player to qualify for the lucrative Llandudno event they would have to win the tournament this week in Gibraltar. Players Championship qualification is determined by this season’s one-year money list and Graeme Dott, who isn’t playing this week, is the man being targeted in 16th spot.
The equation will be simplified further with Lisowski and Perry facing each other in the last 16. They are joined by Cao Yupeng in the tomorrow’s final stages, who also needs to lift the trophy to have a chance of qualifying.
Perry secured his place by defeating Michael Wild 4-1. He finished off the win with a run of 113 in the fifth frame. Lisowski trailed Iran’s Soheil Vahedi 2-0 and 3-2 in his last 32 clash. However, the Shanghai Masters semi-finalist eventually came through, taking the decider on the final black to win 4-3.
