Joe Perry whitewashed tour rookie Joe O’Connor 4-0 at Indian Open qualifying in Preston to secure his place at next month’s event in Kochi.
The Gentleman ended the 2017/18 season well, beating defending champion Mark Selby at the World Championship, before a last 16 defeat against Mark Allen. So far this campaign the 2017 Masters runner-up has exited the first two events, the Riga Masters and Yushan World Open, at the last 16 stage. He will be hoping to progress further in Kochi.
Liang Wenbo eased past Mitchell Mann in a 4-0 victory. The Firecracker surged to the line, making breaks of 66, 57 and 78 along he way.
Blackpool cueman James Cahill secured a fine win on Lancashire turf, holding off 1994 Masters champion Alan McManus to edge through 4-3.
Former Indian Open champion Michael White booked his place in the final stages with a 4-1 win over Nigel Bond. While Iran’s Hossein Vafaei secured a comfortable 4-1 defeat of Sanderson Lam to clinch his spot in India.
