Thailand’s Manasawin Phetmalaikul came from 3-2 down to score a 4-3 win over Hamed Zaredoost on the second day of Asia-Oceania Q School in Bangkok.
Phetmalaikul crafted a run of 87 in the third frame to move 2-1 ahead, before Zaredoost turned the match on its head with runs of 72 and 59 to move just one from victory at 3-2. However, 24-year-old Phetmalaikul wasn’t to be denied and took the final two to emerge a deciding frame victor. Next up he faces Pakistan’s Muhammad Umar Khan.
China’s Deng Haohui produced the performance of the day to whitewash Vorawit Thongweang 4-0. Deng crafted contributions of 64, 71 and 104 on his way to victory. He plays compatriot Jiaxing Ren in round two.
Filipino Alvin Barbero stormed a 4-0 win over Muhammad Ali Moghadam to make the second round, while Muhammad Ahsan Javaid of Pakistan scored a 4-0 win over Thailand’s Taweesap Kongkitcherdchoo.
