Mark Allen scored a much-needed 5-3 win over Lee Walker at the China Championship qualifying round in Preston to book his place in the final stages.
Allen needs an improved season to maintain his top 16 ranking (read more about that here) and he lost his Kaspersky Riga Masters qualifier against Jack Lisowski.
But the Pistol bounced back to beat Walker, recovering from 2-1 down to win four of the last five frames with a top break of 115.
Stephen Maguire was in heavy scoring mood in a 5-1 win over Jamie Curtis-Barrett, compiling runs of 71, 101, 51, 52 and 50.
Mark Williams won a Welsh derby against Jak Jones 5-3. Williams made a 110 in going 4-0 up, then lost the next three frames and trailed 61-0 in the eighth, but fought back to take it by clearing from green to black.
Anthony McGill top scored with 111 in a 5-3 win over Craig Steadman while China’s Zhou Yuelong came from 3-0 down to beat Christopher Keogan 5-3.
