Bio
Zhang was on the brink of one of the great Crucible upsets when he led Stephen Hendry 9-7 on his 2010 debut before bowing out 10-9. He had never been further than the quarter-finals of a ranking event until reaching the final of the 2023 English Open, where he led Judd Trump 7-3, but eventually lost 9-7. Just five weeks later he got to another final at the International Championship, making a 147 on the way to beating Tom Ford 10-6, as he became only the second Chinese player ever to win a ranking title in his home country.
