Bio
After being relegated at the end of his second season on tour, Gilbert returned just a year later, but spent the next decade struggling to make an impression before suddenly reaching the final of the 2015 International Championship where he lost to John Higgins. Three further ranking final defeats followed before he at last crossed the line at the 2021 Championship League, just after his 40th birthday. Gilbert had won only match at the Crucible before a famous run in 2019, when he was one frame away from the world final before losing an epic decider to Higgins. He reached the semi-finals again in 2024, losing to Kyren Wilson.
