Phetmalaikul’s run through six rounds of the first event at the 2023 Q School Asia Oceania in Thailand set him up with a tour card, with Mark Selby and Stephen Maguire among his early opponents as a professional. After missing out on a place at the Northern Ireland Open by one frame in a defeat to Barry Pinches, Phetmalaikul achieved his first win on tour against former ranking tournament finalist Ben Woollaston, qualifying him for the final stages of the 2023 Scottish Open.
