Bio

Having burst on to the scene by defeating reigning World Champion Stephen Hendry in the 1999 Grand Prix, Carter finally shook off his tag as one of the best players never to win a ranking title at the 2009 Welsh Open. He followed up by winning the Shanghai Masters the following year, leading to a brief spell as the number two player in the world. Carter has twice finished runner-up in the World Championship, going down to Ronnie O’Sullivan on both occasions, and made a 147 on the way to his first final at the Crucible in 2008. He now has six ranking titles to his name.
