Career highlights:
2011: Qualifies for the pro tour for the first time by winning the 2011 Asian Under-21 Championship, beating Hossein Vafaei in the final.
2012: Reaches the last 16 of the World Championship, beating Mark Allen at the Crucible before losing to Ryan Day.
2013: Reaches the quarter-finals of the Wuxi Classic.
2017: Reaches the semi-finals of the European Masters in Belgium. Then goes one step further at the Scottish Open in Glasgow, reaching the final and making a 147 on the way. In the final he leads Neil Robertson 8-4, only to miss several title-winning chances and eventually lose 9-8.
2018: Reaches his second ranking event final at the Gibraltar Open, but loses 4-0 to Ryan Day.
In May 2018, Cao Yupeng was suspended from the World Snooker Tour. For details click here. He was banned from the tour for 30 months.
2021: Regains his place on the pro tour via the CBSA China Tour.
