Lyu dropped off the pro tour at the end of the 2014/15 season

Prodigy Lyu, who is considered to have the potential to follow in the footsteps of China’s Ding Junhui and win major titles, played his debut season on the main tour in 2013/14 and showed signs of a bright future.

He reached the last 32 of the Wuxi Classic, and the final of an Asian Tour event. In the latter he beat six players, including Graeme Dott and Xiao Guodong, before losing 4-0 to Liang Wenbo. That also qualified him for the Players Championship, where he lost to Mark Williams.

In 2012, at the age of 14, he became the youngest ever winner of the World Under-21 Championship,  beating Zhu Yinghui 9-6 in the final.

Lyu competed as a wild card at the International Championship in Chengdu in 2012 and beat Dominic Dale and Michael White to reach the quarter-finals before losing to Neil Robertson.
