  • Yu reached his first ever ranking event semi-final at the 2016 Scottish Open. He won a 5-4 thriller against Liang Wenbo, before losing out to Marco Fu 6-1 in the last four.
  • He put in his best performance of the 2015/16 campaign at the Welsh Open. He scored a 4-3 win over Ricky Walden on his way to the last 16 where he eventually lost to Ronnie O’Sullivan.
  • The Chinese potter also recorded a 6-2 victory over former World Champion Stuart Bingham at the 2015 International Championship.
  • He reached the quarter-finals of a full ranking event for the first time at the 2014 Players Championship Grand Finals in Preston. Along the way, he achieved arguably the best result of his career, beating Ronnie O’Sullivan 4-3 in the last 16. Yu’s run was ended by Barry Hawkins in the quarter-finals.
  • An impressive 2013/14 season also saw Yu reach the last 16 of the China Open and the semi-finals of Asian Tour event four.
  • At the 2012 German Masters he stunned fellow Chinese player Ding Junhui 5-3 at the last 32 stage, his run was eventually ended by a 5-2 loss against Stephen Lee.
