Ponds Forge To Host World Qualifiers

Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield will host the qualifying rounds of snooker’s Betfred World Championship for the third consecutive year in April.
The qualifiers will run from April 6 to 13 with all players seeded outside the top 16 battling for one of 16 coveted spots in the final stages at the nearby Crucible Theatre.
Among those competing could be crowd favourite Jimmy White, former champions Ken Doherty and Peter Ebdon, up-and-coming talents such as Leeds cueman Oliver Lines and current Ladies World Champion Ng On Yee.

The cut-off point to determine the top 16 seeds falls on April 4th after the China Open. All other players will need to win three matches to earn a place at the Crucible for snooker’s biggest tournament.

Following completion of the qualifying rounds, the 16 qualifiers will be drawn at random to play the top 16 seeds. The full draw will be announced on www.worldsnooker.com
The Betfred World Championship is supported by Sheffield City Council. The final stages at the Crucible run from April 16 to May 2.
