Q School Ranking List
World Snooker has today issued the criteria to be used to determine how players will ranked on the Q School Ranking List.
For the first time, four two-year tour cards will be awarded to the highest placed players on the 2016 Q School Ranking List, who have not reached the semi-finals of an event. The Ranking List will also continue to be used to allocate top-up places to full-ranking events with fewer than 128 main tour entries.
As was the case last season, each player will be awarded one point to the Q School Ranking List for every frame won. In the event of receiving a bye or walkover, they will be awarded four points.
In the event of players finishing level on the same number of points, players will be ranked on the basis of the following guidelines:
- Number of frames won during Event One
- Number of frames won during Event Two
- Lowest number of frames lost over both events combined
- Lowest number of frames lost during Event One
- Lowest number of frames lost during Event Two
- Furthest round reached during Event One
- Furthest round reached during Event Two
Should there be players still tied, they will then be ranked on the basis of frame scores working backwards in Event One and then Event Two. For example a player winning their Event One quarter-final 4-0 would be ranked above a player who won 4-3 in the same round.
The full criteria are as follows:
“The Q School 2016 Ranking List has been calculated by awarding 1 point for every frame won. All players who received a bye into Round 2 have been awarded 4 points for round 1. Players who have won the same number of frames are then ranked based on frames won in the 1st event and then frames won in the 2nd event. If still equal, players will be ranked based on the lowest number of frames lost over both events, and if still equal, based on the lowest number of frames lost in the 1st event and then the 2nd event. If still equal, players will be ranked based on the furthest round reached in the 1st event and then the furthest round reached in the second event, and if still equal by frame scores working backwards in the 1st event and then by frame scores working backwards in the 2nd event.”
