Race To Llandudno – The Final Leg
This week’s Jojobet.com Gibraltar Open is the final leg in the race to qualify for the Ladbrokes World Grand Prix in Llandudno.
Only the top 16 on the one-year ranking list will go through to Venue Cymru in Llandudno next week to battle for the top prize of £125,000.
The top 15 players on the list – down to Mark King – are already assured of a place in North Wales, which means only the 16th place is up for grabs.
Ryan Day, who was runner-up at the Ladbrokes World Grand Prix, is currently in the box seat as he is £7,312 ahead of 17th-placed Joe Perry, and £17,612 ahead of 18th-placed Mark Williams.

Perry – needs a deep run in Gibraltar
Perry must reach at least the final in Gibraltar to have a chance of jumping into the top 16, while Williams must win the title. No other player can catch Day. And if Day were to reach the last 16, Perry would then need to win the title, while Williams could no longer overtake his countryman.

Anthony McGill’s victory in the Coral Shoot Out has boosted him into the top 16 of the world rankings. The 26-year-old Scot won his second ranking title of the season on Sunday by beating Xiao Guodong in the final of the one frame knock-out event in Watford, earning £32,000.
McGill jumped from 20th to 16th on the official list and is also up to ninth on the one-year list so he could climb as high as seventh if he goes on to win the title in Gibraltar.
The Scot has also climbed to 15th in the crucial list which will determine the top 16 seeds for the Betfred World Championship. That cut off point falls after the China Open in April, and anyone outside the top 16 will need to win three qualifying matches to make it to the Crucible.
Ryan Day is 16th on that list but only £28,612 separates him from 23rd-placed Mark Williams. The remaining events before that cut off is made are the Jojobet.com Gibraltar Open, Ladbrokes Players Championship and China Open. Every pound counts!
