Cazoo Masters Race Update
Yan Bingtao’s defeat in the last 32 of the Cazoo UK Championship on Monday has left his position among the top 16 seeds for January’s Cazoo Masters in jeopardy.
As in previous seasons, the world’s top 16 players after this week’s tournament in York will qualify to play at snooker’s biggest invitational event which will run from 8-15 January 2023 at Alexandra Palace, London. The draw will be made this Sunday, November 20th and the match schedule will be announced soon afterwards.
Yan won the Masters in 2021 but a 6-5 defeat against Zhou Yuelong on Monday means that he lies precariously in 16th position – for updates on the race click here.
David Gilbert and Hossein Vafaei are in first round action in York tonight, against Shaun Murphy and Mark Selby respectively. Both Gilbert and Vafaei need to reach the semi-finals this week to have a chance of a Masters spot. Zhou needs to reach the final, which is worth £100,000, while all other players currently outside the top 16 must take the £250,000 top prize to clinch a place at Alexandra Palace.
Tickets for the Cazoo Masters are still available – for details click here.
