Rankings Update: Trump Dominates

Judd Trump tops both the two-year and one-year world ranking lists following his victory at the International Championship.

Trump thrashed Shaun Murphy 10-3 in the final in Daqing on Sunday to take the £175,000 top prize. In a golden nine-month spell since last November, Trump has also won the Northern Ireland Open, the Masters, the World Grand Prix, and the World Championship.

On the official two-year list, he takes over from Ronnie O’Sullivan and becomes world number one for the first time since 2013. Trump has a lead of £156,000, and the chance to extend his advantage at the next ranking event, September’s China Championship, as O’Sullivan has not entered.

Murphy banked £75,000 as runner-up and remains 14th on the list (as he won the same amount for reaching the final of the China Championship two years ago, with that money now removed) but has significantly boosted his chances of keeping his top 16 spot for the season’s big invitational events.

Indeed, Murphy is in the field for next month’s £751,000 Shanghai Masters, while Ali Carter’s run to the last 16 in Daqing secured his place in Shanghai – read more on that here.

Mark Selby and Mark Allen each earned £32,000 as semi-finalists in Daqing.

Trump leads Murphy by £100,000 at the top of the one-year ranking list after two events and now looks likely to qualify for all three Coral Series tournaments in the second half of the season:

Coral World Grand Prix, Cheltenham, February 3-9. Top 32 on the one-year list after the German Masters will qualify.

Coral Players Championship, venue TBC, February 24 to March 1. Top 16 on the one-year list after the Shoot Out.

Coral Tour Championship, Llandudno, March 17-22. Top eight on the one-year list after the Gibraltar Open.

Riga Masters champion Yan Bingtao is in third, followed by Selby and Allen. Jak Jones reached the last 16 in Daqing to earn his career-biggest pay day of £13,500 – he is 71st on the two year list and 13th on the one-year list.

There are four players – Stephen Maguire, Mark Williams, Barry Hawkins and Ronnie O’Sullivan – currently ranked among the official top 16 but outside the top 32 of the one-year list so they will have ground to make up over the coming events.
