Selby Stars In Mülheim

Mark Selby scored a trio of wins at the Ruhr Open in Mülheim, Germany on Friday to book a place in the last 16 of the season’s third Kreativ Dental Clinic European Tour event.

World number one Selby beat Michael Wasley 4-1 and Robbie Williams 4-3 then edged out Anthony McGill 4-3, gaining revenge for his defeat to the young Scot at the Betfred World Championship last April. This time Selby trailed 3-2 but made a break of 60 in the sixth frame then took the decider 79-4.

Paul Hunter Classic champion Ali Carter couldn’t make it to the final day this time as he lost 4-2 in the last 32 to Mark Davis, who made a 132 in the second frame.

Amateur Hammad Miah beat Judd Trump 4-3 early in the day, making a 112 in the deciding frame, then beat Daniel Wells 4-1 before losing 4-1 to Mike Dunn.

Ben Woollaston made a 120 in a 4-2 win over Lee Walker while Andrew Higginson saw off Robert Milkins 4-2 with a top run of 102.

Luca Brecel made a 140 in a 4-1 win over Zhang Anda while Rory McLeod came from 2-0 down to edge out Mark King 4-3, winning the decider 95-0.
