The Race For World Number One

Going into the last day of the semi-finals at the Betfred World Championship, there are still four players who can finish the season on top of the world rankings.

Ronnie O’Sullivan is the current number one and he is guaranteed to stay in that position if he goes on to win the £500,000 top prize at the Crucible.

Judd Trump is also certain to finish on top if he lifts the trophy, and he would also end the season as number one if he lost to John Higgins in the final.

Higgins has a chance of the top ranking, but would have to beat O’Sullivan in the semis and then Mark Williams in the final. Williams is too far behind to challenge for the number one position, but he would go up to fourth with the title.

As it stands, Mark Selby tops the provisional list, but he would only finish number one if Williams wins the tournament.
