Thor Strikes In Germany

Leong is starting to show promise after struggling in his first pro season
Malaysia’s top player Thor Chuan Leong forged his best ever run in a pro tournament by reaching the last 16 of the Paul Hunter Classic in Germany on Friday.
Leong played on the tour for the first time last season after winning the 2014 Asian Championship. And the 27-year-old is now proving his talent at the seasons’s second Kreativ Dental Clinic European Tour event.
After beating Chris Keogan 4-1 and Liang Wenbo 4-0, Leong saw off Rod Lawler 4-1 with top breaks of 68 and 79.
Kyren Wilson knocked out two of this season’s event winners, seeing off Riga Open champion Barry Hawkins then Australian Goldfields Open champion John Higgins 4-1 with top breaks of 60 and 79.
Mark King beat Lee Walker 4-0 in the last 32 with a top run of 84 while Shaun Murphy earned a 4-2 victory over Luca Brecel.
Stuart Carrington scored a 4-1 win over Matthew Stevens. Ian Burns and Mark Davis enjoyed 4-2 wins over Martin O’Donnell and David Gilbert respectively.
