Ticket holders for 2021 had the option to transfer them to 2022 so those seats are already allocated, but all other available tickets will be on general sale online.

WST Chairman Barry Hearn OBE said: “We are delighted to make tickets available for the Crucible next year and no doubt they will be snapped up within days.

“We anticipate that the success of the event will help everyone move along the roadmap towards better times, and we sincerely hope that by 2022 we will be able to welcome a capacity crowd for every session at the Crucible. We will be working relentlessly towards this goal, building on our record of overcoming challenges over the past year

“Our sincere gratitude goes to all of our colleagues at Sheffield Theatres and Sheffield City Council and to everyone who has worked so hard to make the event happen this year. We  love this city and look forward to coming back in 2022 and for many years to come.

“Fans should get tickets booked fast and look forward to experiencing the magic of the Crucible in a year’s time. The chance to be one of the lucky few inside the arena, when 500 million around the world are watching on television, should not be missed.

“Fans can be sure that if the 2022 event is played behind closed doors or with a reduced crowd, they will have the options of transferring their tickets or a full refund.”

Mark Selby and Shaun Murphy are battling for this year’s title, with the final to run on Sunday and Monday. Ronnie O’Sullivan won the title last year while Judd Trump lifted the trophy in 2019.
