Showcasing snooker as one of the few elite sports where men and women can compete together, the World Mixed Doubles was held for the first time in 2022 and it was a spectacular success.
The team of Neil Robertson and Mink Nutcharut lifted the trophy, beating Mark Selby and Rebecca Kenna in the final, while the other teams in the field were Ronnie O’Sullivan with Reanne Evans and Judd Trump with Ng On Yee.
The 2024 World Mixed Doubles will run on the weekend of March 30 and 31 and will be staged at Manchester Central for the first time.
Once again there will be four teams of two players, with the world’s top four men and top four women (subject to entries) in the field. The initial group phase will see all four teams playing each other once, with the top two teams in the table going through to the final on the evening of Sunday March 31.
The event will be televised by ITV and a range of other broadcasters worldwide.
WST Chairman Steve Dawson said: “We are thrilled to bring the World Mixed Doubles to Manchester Central as it is an outstanding venue which will also host the Tour Championship immediately afterwards.
“Last season’s World Mixed Doubles was a fantastic success. We are proud of snooker’s inclusivity and the fact that we have men and women competing against each other at elite level. This event will help inspire more women and girls to give snooker a try.”
