Snooker fans have the unique opportunity to be among a reduced crowd for the Betfred World Championship as a limited number of tickets will be made available for the tournament in Sheffield which starts on July 31.
All fans who had tickets for the original dates have been given the chance to keep their tickets, and those who have chosen that option will have seats at the famous Crucible Theatre.
Where the full allocation has not been taken up, tickets are available and these are on sale 23 July at 2pm This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience one of the biggest events in global sport under unique circumstances.
Fans will be safely welcomed with all Government guidelines on Covid-19 being carefully monitored and followed. Spectators will be asked to adhere to code of conduct, measures will include:
- Queuing outside of the venue on Tudor Square prior to entry, which will be accessible 45 minutes prior to the session start time
- Wearing a face mask whilst moving around inside the Crucible Theatre, once seated spectators can remove their masks if desired
- There will be no concessions available inside the theatre and so upon entry spectators will be guided straight into the arena and to their seats
- Observe social distancing and avoid close contact with others outside their social bubble
- Observe good hygiene – there will be hand sanitiser available throughout
- Follow signs and instructions from stewards giving directions around the venue
- Avoid the venue if any member of a party displays Covid-19 symptoms
- Tickets will only be available online in advance, there will be no sales at the venue
The full Spectators’ Code of Conduct will be provided to ticket holders in advance of the tournament, non-compliance to this code as highlighted above could result in the jeopardising of public health.
Please note the Crucible will be accessed through a queuing system in Tudor Square.
Please be aware that the queuing system will not be covered and so please ensure that you bring appropriate clothing for any expected weather.
Unfortunately there will be no CueZone in the Winter Gardens this year and no betting stand inside the venue.
Fan radios will be available to purchase however we will be operating on a cashless basis so purchases should be made by debit or credit card, or Apple Pay.
The revised seating plans are below

Your seat will be positioned in the crucible in line with the Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds guidance document issued by the Sports Grounds Safety Authority (SGSA).
This diagram (Click Here) provides an example of a section of the seating plan.
Audience members will only sit directly next to people who they have purchased tickets with and are in their social bubble. The red circles denote the social distance permitted around each spectator and each measures 1 meter diameter.
Important information on how to purchase tickets
Tickets are available in fixed group sizes (bubbles) where 1, 2, 3 or 4 tickets are seated together and each group is distanced from the other groups in the auditorium.
Each bubble can be purchased by only one booker and are strictly limited to a maximum of 2 households.
Please select seats based on your group size. If you select a bubble of more seats than you intend to purchase, you will not be able to complete your purchase. E.g if you want 2 tickets you will not be able to purchase within a bubble of 4.
If a bubble is not available for your group size, you are unable to purchase for that session.
Thank you for reading this information, we know it is a lot to take in!
A vast amount of work by our own staff, Sheffield Council, the Crucible and the UK Government has gone into the logistics of ensuring that all guidelines can be met and we have total confidence that this will be a successful pilot event. To stage the first indoor sporting event with a crowd is a fantastic triumph for snooker.
Anyone who has never witnessed the amazing Crucible atmosphere now has the chance to buy a golden ticket. Hopefully next year we will be back to usual circumstances. But the chance to say ‘I was there’ the time the tournament was played with a small crowd is something fans will remember for a lifetime. Those in the arena will be the lucky few.
