Judd Trump produced a blistering display to whitewash Luca Brecel 4-0 at the Romanian Snooker Masters in Bucharest.
After suffering consecutive early exits at the World Grand Prix and Welsh Open, the sublime victory could mark the beginning of a welcome return to form for Trump. He travels to Llandudno next week to defend his Players Championship title, before beginning preparations for the World Championship.
The Ace in the Pack set a rapid pace of play, averaging just 12 seconds per shot. He fired in breaks of 101, 118, 57 and 52 on his way to a quickfire win, which lasted just 37 minutes.
Kyren Wilson defeated Mark Allen 4-2 in a repeat of the Masters final. His reward will be a last eight clash with Trump
Antrim’s Allen was the victor at Alexandra Palace, but has since struggled to recapture the form that saw him lift the Paul Hunter Trophy. He currently sits in 16th position in the Race to the Crucible and will require some good results at next week’s Players Championship and the China Open to avoid World Championship qualifying.
Wilson took the opening frame to move ahead and he stayed in the lead for the remainder of the match. He compiled runs of 77, 62 and 66 on his way to the win.
