Judd Trump only lost five frames in his first five matches
Defending champion Stephen Maguire faces a tough last 32 match against Judd Trump at the SangSom Six Red World Championship in Bangkok.
Maguire scraped through the round robin phase by taking the fourth and last qualifying spot in Group A, winning just two of his five matches. That meant he was drawn against Trump, the winner of Group C with five wins out of five. India’s Pankaj Advani topped Group A to earn a tie with Michael White.
Two-times Six-Red champion Mark Davis won all five matches in Group E and he now meets Marco Fu. Anthony McGill was the only other player with a flawless round robin record, topping Group B, and his next match is against Phaithoon Phonbun.
Ding Junhui will meet Matt Selt in the first knockout round
Other intriguing last 32 ties include Joe Perry against Ken Doherty, World Champion Stuart Bingham against Thailand’s Thepchaiya Un-Nooh, Ding Junhui against Matthew Selt, Mark Williams against Chinese prodigy Yan Bingtao and world number one Mark Selby against home favourite James Wattana.
