UK Snooker Final Sold Out

Selby beat O’Sullivan 10-7 in a classic 2016 UK final

Snooker’s top stars will be back in York later this year for the Betway UK Championship and tickets for the final have already SOLD OUT, six months in advance.

The tournament is one of the sport’s Triple Crown events – alongside the Masters and World Championship – with 128 players contesting the title. Mark Selby won it last year by beating Ronnie O’Sullivan in a superb final, while other winners in recent years include O’Sullivan, Neil Robertson, Judd Trump and John Higgins.

It has been staged at the York Barbican every year since 2011, and this season’s event will run from November 28 to December 10.

Ticket sales have grown year on year and with seats to both sessions of the final on Sunday December 10 already gone, other sessions will also sell out quickly so fans are advised to book fast. Starting at just £7, tickets are incredible value with the chance to see many top stars in a single session during the early rounds.

One player particularly looking forward to the tournament is talented York potter Ashley Hugill, who has just turned professional for the first time after coming through snooker’s Qualifying School.

Hugill played in the event once before as an amateur, in 2015 when he lost to Shaun Murphy, and is relishing the chance to return as a pro.

“It will definitely be one of the highlights of my first pro season,” said the 22-year-old. “The Barbican is such a fantastic venue. And it will be a chance for all of my family and friends to watch me play live. Hopefully before then I will have had a good start to the season and climbed up the rankings.”

Hugill, whose season gets started in Preston this week with the qualifying rounds of the first two ranking events, added: “There is a lot more expectation on me this season now I’m on the tour but I’m excited about the challenge.”
