Rack Pack To Be Televised On BBC2
The Rack Pack, an enthralling short film about the snooker boom of the 1980s, will be televised on BBC2 for the first time next Saturday.
The Rack Pack is currently available to watch on BBC iplayer (click here to watch) and will be on BBC2 on Saturday April 30 at 9.30pm.
The 80-minute comedy drama focuses on the rivalry between Alex Higgins and his nemesis Steve Davis during the years when snooker became the most popular sport in Britain. The plot includes depictions of classic moments including Davis’s first World Championship triumph in 1981, and Higgins’s victory the following year.
Other central characters in the Rack Pack include Barry Hearn, whose careful management of Davis and the growing Matchroom stable helped snooker to thrive, as well as Jimmy White and Higgins’s long-suffering wife Lynn.
The roles are superbly played by Luke Treadaway (Higgins), Will Merrick (Davis), Kevin Bishop (Hearn), James Bailey (White) and Nichola Burley (Lynn Higgins).
