WPBSA Coaching Seminar in Sheffield

CoachingSnooker’s world governing body the WPBSA hosted its annual coaching seminar last Friday evening in Sheffield.

Attended by a number of WPBSA World Snooker coaches, the session saw keynote speaker Toni Minichiello, best known as the coach of Olympic gold medallist Jessica Ennis-Hill, speak about his career to date, before taking questions from the floor.

There was also an update presentation on the work of the English Partnership for Snooker and Billiards (EPSB), by WPBSA Sport Development Manager Chris Hornby, as well as talks on the MySnookerStats app and funding opportunities available through the Duke of Edinburgh award.

WPBSA coaches are invited to attend coaching seminars twice each year to receive updates on WPBSA activity, network and share best practice. As part of Friday’s seminar coaches received tickets to the Crucible Theatre during Saturday’s second round matches.

WPBSA Head of Coaching and Grassroots Development Chris Lovell said: “This is the 12th annual coaching seminar hosted by the WPBSA and it has been an honour to listen to a coach of Toni’s standing.

“His presence on Friday, following on from that of Dr Steve Peters in 2015 demonstrates the continued ambition of the WPBSA to provide our coaches with access to a wide range of elite level experts and to be able to benefit from their experiences.”
