Q School Event Three – The Final Round

Former Shoot Out champion Michael Holt is just one match away from an immediate return to the World Snooker Tour, after beating Hong Kong’s Ka Wai Cheung 4-3 to reach the final round of Q School event three in Sheffield.

Holt will now face fellow former professional John Astley in the quarter-finals, who himself needed a final frame decider to beat Ian Martin 4-3. The semi-finalists will claim the last four remaining spots on the professional circuit, with each qualifier receiving a two-year tour card.

Englishmen Haydon Pinhey and Jenson Kendrick will do battle to gain maiden tour places. Pinhey beat Farakh Ajaib 4-3 on the final black to make the last eight, while Kendrick emerged a 4-2 victor against George Pragnall.

Germany’s Lukas Kleckers beat Norway’s former Crucible quarter-finalist Kurt Maflin 4-1 to reach the final round. He now faces Scotland’s Ross Muir, who beat Sunny Akani 4-1.

James Cahill and Zhao Jianbo will clash for a place on the World Snooker Tour, they clinched their spots on the final day with 4-3 wins over Florian Nussle and Steven Hallworth respectively.
