Ralph Allen Kids Enjoy Masters Trip

Ralph Allen School in Bath celebrated its third year of involvement in the ‘Cue Zone Into Schools’ programme with a visit to Alexandra Palace in London to watch the Dafabet Masters last week.

Students from the school’s snooker club were invited to attend the prestigious event and were treated to VIP access.

The day started with snooker challenges on the full size table in the Cue Zone area, where the students got to meet former Masters champion Jimmy White.

Rob Walker, master of ceremonies at the event, then gave the students a back stage tour taking them behind the scenes, where they met former World Champion John Parrott.

A quick peak into the commentary boxes was followed by a table-side tour of the match arena where students met two more snooker legends: Ken Doherty and Steve Davis.

The students were then given some of the best seats in the house to watch the match between Judd Trump and Stephen Maguire.

Teacher Tom Hancock said: “This is the first live snooker event that our students have experienced and I am sure it will be one they will never forget. Our students have been treated to such a memorable and unique glimpse into elite sporting competition and having the privilege to meet in person so many legends and ambassadors of the game has been truly inspirational.”

Student Ralf said: “It was an amazing, surreal experience! The behind the scenes tour was the best part!”
