Star Celebrates 30 Years And Promotes Yushan World Open

Star Xing Pai celebrated its 30th anniversary this week and announced that it will promote the Yushan World Open ranking event.

Star has been a partner of the World Snooker Tour for the past ten years and the Star Championship table continues to be used for all World Snooker events around the globe.

And they have worked with snooker’s governing body the WPBSA in producing ‘Little Star’ small tables for the Cue Zone into Schools project.

Star has also promoted various ranking events in China, including this season’s Yushan World Open which will run from September 18-24 in the Jiangxi Province.

The total prize money for the event is £700,000 with a top prize of £150,000, matching the China Championship and International Championship as the ranking events outside the UK with the highest prize money.

Televised by broadcasters including CCTV and Eurosport, the tournament will feature top stars including Ding Junhui, Mark Selby, Marco Fu, Shaun Murphy, Neil Robertson and John Higgins.

World Snooker Chairman Barry Hearn, speaking at a special ceremony for Star in Beijing, said: “This is the 30th anniversary for the Star brand and it is a great testament to their outstanding operation that the company’s success grows year after year. In working with their management and staff over may years we have seen the strength of their dedication to be successful.

“The standard of play in snooker now is higher than ever, with more centuries, more 147s and more incredible matches. The equipment we use, including Star tables, is the very best available and that is a crucial factor in the remarkable standard produced by the professional players.

“Just a few months ago at the famous Crucible Theatre in Sheffield I was delighted to present Mr Gan of Star with a special award for his outstanding services to snooker.

“We are also delighted that Star will promote the Yushan World Open this season with record-equalling prize money. It will be a tremendous tournament for the players and fans.
