Un-Nooh Downs The Firecracker

Thailand’s Thepchaiya Un-Nooh defeated Liang Wenbo 6-4 to reach the semi-finals of the Sangsom Six Red World Championship in Bangkok.

The match was a repeat of the 2015 final, where Un Nooh stormed to an 8-2 victory in front of his home fans.

Un-Nooh is regarded as one of the fastest players on the World Snooker Tour and was at his free flowing best this evening, compiling runs of 65, 59,70 and 66 on his way to the win.

Marco Fu battled back to overturn a three frame deficit and beat Graeme Dott 6-5. The Scot had led 5-2, before Fu won the final four frames to book his place in the last four. It was an eventful day for the Hong Kong potter, who recorded an impressive 6-1 defeat of Ding Junhui in the morning’s last 16.

He faces Mark Williams in the semis, who eased past Michael Holt 6-2 to secure his progress. The two-time World Champion came through against Kyren Wilson 6-3 in the last 16.

Scotland’s two-time ranking event winner Anthony McGill completes the last four lineup.  He overcame David Gilbert in a hard fought 6-4 victory. McGill will face Un-Nooh tomorrow for a place in the final.
