China’s 20-year-old Si Jiahui is arguably the biggest outsider of all-time to reach the semi-finals at the Crucible. Here area few things you may not have known about the world number 80…
- He first played snooker at the age of 11 in a club owned by his father. Having shown talent, he was later brought to a snooker summer camp in Shanghai to develop his skills.
- During the season he lives in a flat in Sheffield and practises at Victoria’s Snooker Academy, just a few minutes walk from the Crucible.
- During the Covid pandemic, he did not see his family for three years. Si finally returned home in February this year and spent three weeks in China.
- Away from snooker he enjoys listening to music and watching movies – his favourite film is Green Book.

During the 2020/21 season, Si dyed his hair blue.
