Ronnie O’Sullivan opened up a 10-6 lead over Ryan Day ahead of the concluding session of their second round clash at the Cazoo World Championship.

The Rocket is aiming for a record breaking eighth Crucible crown, having equalled Stephen Hendry on seven with victory in 2022.

Despite extending his 5-3 advantage from this morning, O’Sullivan appeared to be visibly frustrated at moments throughout this evening’s session.

Breaks of 82, 65 and 89 helped O’Sullivan to three of the first four frames tonight and an 8-4 cushion at the mid-session.

When play resumed, further breaks of 56 and 96 saw the 41-time ranking event winner move 10-4 ahead. However, Day, who hasn’t beaten O’Sullivan since 2011, showed his class by taking the last two of the session with breaks of 72 and 75 to stay in touch.

On the other table, Kyren Wilson and Joe O’Connor shared the frames to leave the former leading 10-6 heading into tomorrow’s concluding session.

The Warrior led 6-2 coming into this evening and runs of 56, 58 and 86 helped him to a 10-5 advantage tonight. However, O’Connor showed his class with a century run of 102 to end the night four behind at 10-6.

Both of this evening’s matches will be played to a conclusion tomorrow afternoon from 1pm.
